Stairlift FAQs
What stairlift do I need?
There are two main types of stairlift - straight and curved. Stairlifts are designed for anyone who has difficulty using a staircase and provide access to all areas of the home when the stairs present a barrier.
Straight stairlifts are fitted to staircases with no bends. This is the simplest form of stairlift, where the staircase is completely straight.
Curved stairlifts are fitted to staircases that have one or more bends and require a bespoke rail.
Child stairlifts work in exactly the same way as a straight or curved stairlift but the chair can be tailored to fit a child perfectly with a range of cushions and harnesses available.
Does a stairlift use a lot in electricity?
The average stairlift costs less than £8 per year to run.
Are domestic lifts safe?
Mechanical parts are enclosed in a sealed carriage under the seat to stop pets and clothing getting trapped. Sensors are built into the stairlift that stop the lift automatically if it encounters any obstacles. Safety belts ensure you are secure whilst travelling.
